Although the
Nepali music scenario has seen many talented artists struggle to
make it big, this particular trio brings freshness to the scene.
Carolyn’s presence in the trio not only stands as a testimony to
the simple allure of Nepali musical tradition, but also as a
proof that the Nepali language is naturally enticing to people
from most diverse corners of the world. Although Nepal is
ravaged by her own sons, there is still enough hope, if Nepal
continues to attract the sincere admiration and dedication from
people who start with the most casual acquaintance with the
culture and the people and continue to fall in love with the
country.
Carolyn should be recognized as a unique ambassador—of the love
and empathy that the rest of the world has for our country; and
as a harbinger of the goodness carried in our traditions—of
hospitality and cordiality towards all strangers who become
faithful friends, of our enticing tradition of music that first
invites then irrevocably binds every listener. The goodwill for
Nepal that exists among foreign nationals is, after all, just a
larger collection of the goodwill shown by individuals like
Carolyn. Let us support new Nepali artists like the trio of Raj
DC, Bijaya and Carolyn, because their sincere commitment to
Nepali music makes them worthier children of Nepal than many of
us, who, for our due, can only appreciate their efforts and
encourage their art.
