Interview..In his
own
words. |
- How did your
musical journey start?
When I was a school boy I was very much
interested in listening to music. I used to run away from school to listen music.
It was then that I made my mind to choose music as a career. So then
after my schooling I studied “ Bhatkhandey” music college in Lucknow, India for
four years.
- Who inspired you?
- All my friends, school teachers and parents inspired me to
enter in the field of music.
- What makes a good
singer?
- Everybody
knows that the more you practice the better you
become. Regular practice and hard work pays off,
and same philosophy made me a
singer as of now.
- What are some of
the encouragement and discourage moments so far in
your journey?
- When I passed the
voice test examination it was the happiest moment, but when my father died it was the saddest
moment in my life. These are the happiest and sad
moments
of my life which I can never forget.
- Times have changed
now...what do you think about the music environment
now in Nepal?
- Yes, of course
time has changed. It has affected the music as
well. We must think about it also. First of all
we need a good education in the field of music
in Nepal. To me we must have at least one
university in Nepal for music only. It will
change the scene of Music in Nepal. Media
should not focus only in money. They
should not give priority only to those who has
money, but should also respect other artists
with talents.
- How have you
planned to stay in this market?
- I love all
kinds of songs. Every body knows that melodious songs
never die. Other types of songs have some
time limit. I will sing such type of songs which
help to preserve our culture.
- Where have you
toured?
- In my twenty
years of musical journey, I have extensively
traveled gulf countries, Asian countries and
Europe also.
- How do you go
about the songs? Do you compose your songs? Do you
also
write lyrics?
- I always go
through the bottom level and also focus on words
so that songs can be easily picked up by
the listeners. For a good song, good music and
good lyrist is very essential. Yes, I have
composed some songs, but I have never
written any songs.
- What has been the
difficult part in being an artist?
- To be a good
artist we need regular practice, hard work and
dedication and also good manner. Many hurdles have
come, but I
cannot tell here in few words. But yes there was
hardships at times.
- What’s your
thought on Nepali music and industry? How do you
intend to save it and take it to the next level?
- In Nepal I
think that Nepali music has just started its
growth. It needs help from every sector for
its phenomenal growth. Artist is the person
which can help music industry to walk in good
link. Everybody must help for its development
and growth. We must stop the piracy of music CDs
and songs. I will do my best to preserve the
melodious songs which is very necessary for music
industry. Everything is possible if we all join
together and help each other for the development
of the music industry in Nepal.
- Looks like you
record most of your stuff in India...Why is that?
- I sing songs in
India. Never recorded my album in India. Everybody
knows that in India there is huge market and thus
have plenty of opportunities. It depends upon
producer also to record the songs in India.
Sometimes for new taste and quality I sing Nepali
songs with Indian
singers.
- What do you want
to tell us about your new album? There is one song
with DJ also...
- Just few months
ago my 10th album "Anand" was released. In that album
you will find all types of songs. I have all the
renowned lyrists. The album is for all ages (old
and young). I have one song with a DJ as well. It is a
new song and not remixed version from older one. It
may help to those who are interested In DJ songs.
- What's your
suggestion to listeners? Any last words?
- My only
suggestion to all listeners is to avoid
pirated CDs and songs/ albums. Please give me
feed back so that I can do something for that.
The government must punish those involved in
piracy. It really affects artists like us
when you get pirated CDs. Please support
by getting an original CDs/Cassettes.
-
What's your Next project?
- Next year I
will try to bring a new melodious album.
