Interview with Dibya Subba (own words).
  • How did you get involve with music?
    • My father has been a big inspiration.  He was a musician and was in Radio Nepal. He taught me guitar and vocal when I was 12, and took class with Gurudev Kamat for 3yrs.
  • What has been your most discouraging and encouraging moments?
    • When I finished my album not a single company was ready to take it.  It took two years to release the album. Tables have turned now.  Now when every body likes my songs and appreciate me, then all the medias is supporting me.
  • Now that you have a new album? How has been the response?
    • It's really rocking, and I getting lots of emails.
  • How are you handling such responses?
    • Well, I am totally new in this field ..sometimes I get confused..but I m trying my best.
  • What's the reason behind the name of your new album?
    • Then name of my album is "PRATHA."  Actually I was planning to put "Sangeetkar ko jeewan" which is in the track as well, but my company suggested me to change the name.  "Pratha" means a culture that we follow.
       
  • How do you describe your album? What kind of music/songs are in the album?
    • It's a melody album.  I have tried to give best lyrics did compose by myself.  All my songs r not catchy, but if u listen to the album few times then I think any body can understand my music.  I haven't tried to be different but have been inspired by senior artists. My album is a mix of sentimental, soft rock and hard rock songs.  I have also dedicated a song called "Sangeetkar ko jeewan" to legends like Gopal Yonzan, and Amar Gurung.
  • How do you try to be different?
    • I never tried to be different,  I have my own style of singing like every artists.  However, I always say never try to copy other just be yourself.
  • What has been the difficult part in being an artist?
    • Lots of struggle, sacrifice, and devotion.  I even had to sell my favorite motorbike and a guitar in order to record my album.
  • Wow that expensive!!!
    • Yes if you want quality.
  • Where did you record?
    • At Opus, Accustica, and Melody.  Songs were arranged by Dipesh Singh and Sunil Bardewa.
  • What do you think of current music situation in Nepal?
    • Its great..getting larger.
  • How do you go about the songs? Do you compose your songs?
    • Yes, I do, and I have back up band "Nakchyatra Band" that helps me during concerts. 
  • What is your message to new artists?
    • Never give up, keep on fate, and believe in yourself no matter happens.  Respect seniors, and be yourself.
  • What's your next project?
    • Soon we r going to make a music video, of "Yaad haru." I m also in the process of recording a second album featuring Nepsydaz, Nakchyatra Band and other good bands.
  • What's your view on media coverage?
    • Media coverage is very helpful, but it should also be fair and should support new artists and respect their talents.
  • any last words or any message to fans?
    • I don't want to force someone into buying and listening to my CD/Cassettes.  Go with your own heart.  People have watched my video and may have listened to my songs, and if I am able to touch their heart then my message is to show some respect towards Nepali music and plzzzzzzz' don't pirate CDs. If you can't afford a CD then you could get a cassette.
