15 of 30 players of a High School in Akron, Ohio, are of Bhutanese descent born in Nepal

Akron, Ohio might be well known as a the rubber capital of the world, but its also the city where 8 languages (Nepali, Hindi, Thai, Karen, Uzbek, Twi, Burmese and English) are spoken in a high school soccer team. It’s a big challenge for the coach who has to deal with 29 of his 30 players who were born outside of USA. Among the 30 players, 15 are of Bhutanese descent who were born in Nepal. “It’s pretty fun being here,” Says one of the player, Kailash Ghimire.   He further says, “it is a much better place than our country. We were in a refugee camp. Now we are here and we have our own house. We can go and work and have money and buy our own stuff like cars and other things. In our country, we didn’t have a car and other things."  Please click here to read more.
