It was a historic day for Nepal when the Nepali Cricket Team secured the International Cricket Council’s One Day International status for next four years. Thanks to their win over Papua New Guinea by 6 wickets and Netherlands’ victory over Hong Kong that helped Nepal secure ODI status.
The victory was of great importance for Nepal given the fact that Nepal cricket board is currently suspended by ICC.
Some Important Timeline of Nepal Cricket Team
- 1988 – Affiliate status by the ICC
- 1996 – Promoted to Associate Rank
- 2008 – Nepal was included in World Cricket League Division 5, and came third.
- 2010 – Nepal won the Division 5. Nepal also came third in Divison 4.
- 2012 – Nepal won the Division 4
- 2013 – Nepal secured a spot in World Twenty20 Qualifier. In the same year, Nepal was won the championship in Division 3 in WCL and qualified for WCL league Championship in 2015.
- 2013 – Nepal Team didn’t perform well and was downgraded to play in Division 2
- Early 2018 – Nepal Lost to UAE in the finals of WCL Division 2 finishing up as the runner-ups, and was enough to play in the World Cup Qualifiers.
