Singer-songwriter and composer Sunil Parajuli has released the official music video for his song “Gori (beautiful)”, which blends a traditional folk melody with romance and a strong message of love for Ilam.

Although the song was originally composed in 2021, it was recorded in 2025, and the music video was released on June 15, 2025, featuring local artists, landscapes, and cultural elements from Ilam.

Speaking about the song, Parajuli shared with Nepalisite:

“Gori (beautiful) is a folk tune mixed with a little romance. The main goal of this song is to bring awareness and promote local tourist destinations, festivals, cultures, exotic animals and agricultural produce that are prevalent in and around Ilam.”

He also encouraged people to explore Ilam and its surroundings:

“Ilam with its moderate climate is naturally a beautiful place for a visit and has a lot to offer: Maibeni Mela/Festival, Thodke Waterfall, Sri Antu Sunrise, Panitar & Kanyam Tea Gardens, Mai Pokhari, Sandakpur – view of Kanchenjunga Range etc are some of the destinations that can provide you with lots of beautiful memories.”
“Agriculture products such as Akabare Chilli/Pickles, Milk Products/Churpee/Ghee, variety of Tea, Cardamoms etc are plentiful for you to take home. You never know you may be lucky to get a glimpse of our uniquely beautiful and endangered Red Panda. Please connect with the Red Panda Network of Nepal (Ilam Office).”

Parajuli also pointed out:

“FYI – The species has been listed as Endangered on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List since 2015. For more information: info.nepal@redpandanetwork.org | www.redpandanetwork.org”
Reflecting on his connection to Ilam, he added:
“I like to write about different topics I’ve written and composed about Dashain & Tihar/festival, Kathmandu Rajdhani/environment, Hera Kati Ramro Phoolabari/gardening/flowers etc. This is about Ilam and its surroundings. My parents are from here and so were their forefathers. I wanted to help in some way to promote Ilam and this song, ‘GORI’ sounded like a good idea.
All the character actors, directors, cameraman, transportation, production studio, scenes are local. Hope you’d visit Ilam someday and enjoy your stay and also help boost the local economy.”
