131 contestants from 7 auditions from different cities were selected for the theater round in Kathmandu. Participants were divided into different groups from which the judges selected the ones for the next round.

Nhyoo Bajracharya, Indira Joshi and Kali Prasad Baskota are the judges for Nepal Idol, the first Idol franchise in Nepal. First audition round was from Pokhara, while second audition was from Nepalgunj. Third Episode was from Nepalgunj and the fourth episode was from Birgunj. Fifth round was from Biratnagar while the sixth audition was in Narayangarh. Seventh and eighth auditions were held in Kathmandu. Nepal Idol is broadcasted by AP1 TV.
