Highlights: WAFF 2024 Finals – JORDAN VS NEPAL

Nepal will be playing against three time defending champion Jordan in the finals on Feb 29th, 2024.

The 8th WAFF Women’s Championship, a key international women’s soccer competition held every two years in West Asia, is taking place in 2024. This event brings together national teams from the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) to compete. For the first time, Saudi Arabia is hosting this major women’s football event, marking a significant moment for the sport in the kingdom.

In this edition, for the first time, teams outside the West Asian Football Federation were invited to participate, including Nepal, Nepal, from the South Asian Football Federation, and Guam, a member of the East Asian Football Federation.

Sabitra ‘Samba’ Bhandari will not be playing in 2024 WAFF Finals due to her club commitments with EV Guingamp in France. The final match on February 29, 2024, falls outside the official FIFA window, and her contract with EV Guingamp specifies that she is only available for national team duty during these designated FIFA dates. Consequently, this contractual obligation prevents her from participating in the final match against Jordan, despite her crucial role in getting Nepal to this advanced stage of the tournament.
